In the world of night markets, there’s the biggest, the wildest, the most epic, the must-do.. that’s why we love Bangkok, right? But what about the cutest, the coziest, the kind that isn’t overstimulating but still has it all, where you don’t suffocate in the midst of crowds and actually want to return, not to escape?
I’m searching for places with the right size and feel-good vibes; those that make me say out loud, Ah, I love this.
ChangChui Creative Park
Location: Bang Phlat, best reached by Grab
I found this one by chance, and it turned out to be one of the biggest surprises in Bangkok. Creative park by day, lively market by night. It’s built out of recycled materials and has an actual airplane parked in the middle. The vibe? Like a circus meets a farmers market: eclectic, artsy, spacious.
You find here local and international food, kiosks and cocktail bars, pop-up vendors, and an all-senses-stimulating atmosphere. It hosts venues and festivals; obviously super busy during events, but perfect on random weekdays.
The park is open every day (from 11 am), but the night market happens only Tuesday through Sunday (5-11 pm).
SW1
Location: Khlong Toei, Asok BTS station
Another surprise, in the central chaos – between Nana and Asok stations, right next to Korea Town. The first visit made a strong impression, and it hasn’t disappointed since. The vibe? All kinds of food vendors, plenty of seating, and some background music.
If you don’t even know where to eat among the endless options in Bangkok, SW1 is a solid choice – and maybe the easiest to access for those bitching about distances.
Open daily 4 pm-12 am (also 7 am-3 pm on weekdays).
Jodd Fairs
Location: Din Daeng, Thailand Cultural Center MRT station
It reminds me of European Christmas markets for some reason. While the alleys between the vendors can get tight at peak times, it’s still manageable and totally worth exploring – great food, goodies, and live music.
And if you need more, The Street Ratchada next door offers further food options.
Open every day from 5 pm to 1 am.
Banthat Thong Road
Location: Pathum Wan, National Stadium BTS station
Chula is a university district with some of the best food available – heavily Chinese and cheap. This default setup is further expanded with street vendors in the alleys, taking up every bit of street space, and a night/weekend/festival market on Chulalongkorn.
I’ve been biased for years, and while it can turn into a somewhat typical Thai night market, it’s still not that intense.. plus my favorite park is right next to it. Grabbing food and sitting on the grass is a sweet way to spend a hot Bangkok evening.
Opens every day around 5pm until 1 am.
